Era Boost Pro – Grain corn

Results of several years of trials conducted by McGill University on the growth and yield of grain corn. For these trials, Era Boost Pro was combined with granular fertilizer applied at sowing.

In addition to measuring the effect of Era Boost Pro on growth and yield, the trial aimed to evaluate the application vector, the effect on the sowing date and the type of soil (clay, clay loam and sand).

Grain corn yield late planting 2019

For 2019, a statistically significant increase in yield was observed with the addition of Era Boost Pro in 5 of the 6 combinations of conditions. However, no statistically significant difference was observed in the 2018 season. These observations were made in two seasons with completely opposite climates (2018 long, dry and hot; 2019 short, wet and cool).

This seems to indicate that under perfect conditions for corn culture (as was the case in 2018, a record year for this crop), the effect of our biostimulant is minimal. However, when grain corn is subjected to environmental stress (as in 2019), the addition of Era Boost Pro biostimulant significantly helps the plant to flourish in difficult conditions.

Material and methods

McGill University & Don Smith, PhD – Montreal, Canada – 2018/2019

Material and methods

1. Randomized block design, 4 replicates (8 rows of 6 m)

2. Clay, clay loam and sandy

3. Two sowing dates (May 11, 2018 and May 22, 2018, as well as May 21, 2019 and June 6, 2019)

4. Cultivar: Dekalb hybrid, adapted to conditions

5. Fertilization: Starter: 16.7-20,1-6.7 (300 kg/ha)
2nd application: Amidas 40-0-0-5.5s (400 kg/ha)

6. 3.3 L Éra Boost Pro per ton of fertilizer applied to the starter fertilizer (1 L/ha)

Findings:

  • Statistically significant yield increase in 2019 for 5 of the 6 combinations of conditions. No statistical difference in the 2018 season. The 2018 season was perfect for growing corn (long, dry and hot), while the 2019 season was less than optimal (short, wet and cold).
  • Therefore, the addition of Era Boost Pro allowed the plant to flourish under difficult conditions.
